Why I'm Not Watching The News

In my office writing, when the J-man stomps in.

J-MAN: Did you hear that?
ME: Uh, no, busy. Writing stories about vampires, dark elves and stuff.
J-MAN: Katrina coverage. The TV news starts off with a segment called "Katrina Strikes Hard, But Now People Are Fighting Back."
ME: Fighting back against the weather? Didn't think you could do that. Stupid media.
J-MAN: Argh. And then they interview some woman who says, "Katrina won the battle, but we'll win the war."
ME: The war?
J-MAN: We're at war with Nature now? These people will go to war against anything.
ME: Well, actually, we're always at war with Nature.
J-MAN: And Nature always wins.
ME: Yep. Unless you're a nutjob big preacher like Fred Phelps. Then it's God, not Nature. I'm sure he claims N'Awlins deserved it.
J-MAN: Punishment for all the Mardi Gras debauchery. He's probably there now, preaching hate.
ME: Only if the bastard can swim.
