Smelling The Coffee

From Esquire, October 2005, The Five-Minute Guide: Oil.

Even the oil-glutted Saudis have a saying: "My father rode a camel. I drive a car. My son rides in a jet. His son will ride a camel."

The Saudis get it, why can't we? Nothing is forever. Wake up and demand an alternative.

Regarding the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR):
...a 2004 study by the Department of Energy concluded ANWR resources would only slightly reduce dependence on foreign oil. The mean estimate of ANWR's reserves, 10.4 billion barrels, is the amount the U.S. burns through in about twenty-two months. "It's the addict wanting to sell the family jewels for another fix," says Bart Anderson, coeditor of the online Energy Bulletin. "The problem is addiction."
