And Now For Something Totally Self-Indulgent

I tried. I really did.

Opened up Word and rambled incoherently about what I'm writing, my processes, etc. Just can't do it.

The quick round up...
Sent "Fire God" and "Keep Away from Naked Flame" out into Subland. "The Shapeshifter's Challenge" got a reprieve when the printer ran out of ink.

Got a couple hundred words in on Pinocchio in Reverse and Hallowbone Holiday. Good brainstorming session on Hallowbone Holiday.

On to Reading...
Me thinks Tam Lin (Pamela Dean) is goin' back to the library unfinished. Janet, the protagonist, is an English major (no problemo) and a literary snob (big problemo.) For me, lit snobs are just a tetch below people who club baby seals. The dialogue is so overly conversational, it's often incomprehensible and combined with Janet's frequent reference to books and authors I've never heard of, it's like being in a room where everybody gets the joke except you. Frankly, it fucking pretentious. So far nothing even remotely fantastical. Meh.

(The novel might go over well with someone who attended a small eastern liberal arts college. Totally unrelateable to this New Mexican hick.)

Went to the Library...
Picked up: Mission: Irresistible, Lori Wilde; Underworld: Blood Enemy, Greg Cox; The Hidden Queen, Alma Alexander; Gasa-Gasa Girl, Naomi Hirahara; Dead to the World, Charlaine Harris

On Hold list: The Good, the Bad, and the Undead, Kim Harrison; The Charnel Prince, Greg Keyes; Constantine, the Hellblazer Collection, various; Sandman: The Doll's House, Neil Gaiman

This is why if it doesn't grab me in a few pages, it's back to the library. Plus I have to clear out a big slot for Harry Potter.

And Finally...
In need of research material re: hospitals, what it's like to be in ICU, C-Sections? Check out CodeBlog. It's neeto.

Cheers.
